Scows at the Royal Victoria, now that's something new I here you say.
Well not exactly, apparently the club used to sail Scows in the fifty's & sixty's against the Island Sailing Club and Bembridge Sailing Club. In those days the boats were towed to and fro with club launches depending where racing was to take place.
We now have an ever growing fleet within the club and a healthy waiting list for second hand boats. We meet on Thursdays for some lighthearted racing around marks or a dash or two up the creek and back, all dependent on the weather. We also meet on Saturdays just to sail. It is our intention to go further afield stop for refreshments and then sail back, who knows where we might end up.
For longer excursion's we will have a RIB in an attendance as back up.
For members who have toyed with the idea of buying a Scow and are worried about getting their boat in and out of the water by their self, don't worry we all help each other.
Our oldest participant is 80 plus and still going strong. 8 or 80 you can sail a scow. So the message is clear if you want a little more fun out of life why not join us.
