What do our Cadets do?
Meeting throughout the year on a Friday evening, the winter time is taken up with a mix of theory sessions and social activities in the club house.
Key dates for 2021 are found in the poster attached .
Our first on water sailing session will be on 23 April 2021 and typically every other Friday dependant on tides until early September.
On the non-sailing nights the groups may meet for short theory sessions (depending on instructor availability).
Who can join in?
Each Cadet will need to be a member of the club and be aged between 8 and 18 years.
Please be aware numbers are limited, before joining the club as a member, check there is availability with the cadet leaders.
What will you learn?
As an RYA Onboard Club , we will be using our Friday night sessions as a safe and fun way for our cadets to get out on the water and learn to sail well and confidently . As a RYA Training Centre , our sessions are run by qualified dinghy instructors.
The intensive sail training given during Cadet week is the perfect time to complete any RYA qualifications .
Some of the qualifications you will be able to gain during Cadet week ( 11-15 August 2021) are:
- Youth Stages 1 to 4
- Start Racing
- Day Sailing
- Seamanship
- Sailing with Spinnakers
- In addition we can also run Powerboat 2 courses for Cadets.
