  • Race Report WightLink 4 and Cruiser Race 6 16/7/17

    A steady Force 4 with a turning tide gave perfect conditions for the 1600 start Sunday, even the sun was out. With a fishing boat anchored on the start line the cruisers had a match race between Nigel Talbot and Tony Pope. It was a competitive start with both boats fighting for the line but Nigel and crew in Nitric pulled away crossing the finish in first place. Eight Squibs

    Race Report - WL3 - Sunday 9 July

    The third race in the Wightlink series was held in a light southerly breeze last Sunday. Six Squibs took to the start line first and it was Incognito (Ian Morgan and Rachel Wroath who showed how to get off the line best in a strong ebb tide, followed by Tamsin and Steve Baker in Peregrin.     Race report : 25 June 2017

    The first Wightlink Race of 2017 started in blustery conditions ranging from 13 to 21knots of wind that made for some exciting racing. Two cruisers, Mad Hatter and Nitric, had a close race round the cans with Mad Hatter sailing a better last leg to cross the line first. A fleet of 6 Squibs started the race with Aquabat, Steve Warren Smith in the lead after some close racing. He was passed on the final

    Royal Perth Yacht Club , Australia

    Emily Stone , Cadet Captain from 2014/15 represented the RVYC today at club racing at the Royal Perth Yacht Club. She was part of the RCS crew who won the race. The photo is of her receiving their burgee and the smaller pennant is the prize as the winning boat . Emily presented our Club burgee and gave a speech in the visiting Clubs Honour .

    Race Report : Sunday 4 June 2017

    The Squibs were first away on Sunday at 11:00 in champagne conditions with a decent F4 Westerly on an already ebbing neap tide. The leading duo of Whizzard and Osprey had a good ding-dong battle around the starboard-handed double triangular course with the Gibson brothers getting the better of Gear/McLaughlin on the final beat. Icarus and Kestrel had an even tighter battle for third and fourth with Russell/Stone eventually pipping Longford/White by a narrow margin.

    A promising forecast, a good fleet, and a full race team, what could possibly go wrong? The race had loose bungs, dirty bottoms, sore heads and wilful spinnakers to make life interesting.     Nine dinghies and four Squibs raced in Sunday's first race in the TST series. The Lasers were out in force again but only three finished due to one breakage, two being rescued and one forgetting to go through the lap line.     Inter-club Scow racing

    The embryonic Royal Victoria scow fleet were honoured to be invited to take part in the resurrection of the inter-club team racing event held at Bembridge on Saturday. Created several years ago at the instigation of Yarmouth Sailing Club members, David and Gwendolyne Hedly, the trophy was last raced for in 2009 when won by Brading Haven Yacht Club.
