Fast Handicap

The RVYC is home to a competitive fast handicap fleet which regularly includes but not limited to Lasers (ILCA 6 & 7), RS 100's, 300's, 400's & Laser 2000's. In the hotly contested Merrydown Regatta and popular Frostbite Open series, the fleet also includes multihulls, Solos and RS Aeros.

There is regular club racing from March to December with courses set in and around Woodside Bay. Launching is easy using the club or shared Wightlink slipway with dinghies closely accessible in the club dinghy park.

ILCA 4 & 6's are the main training dinghy for the advanced cadets with on and off the water training on Friday nights. Furthermore, adult sailing has many fast handicap dinghies taking part on Wednesday nights (this includes both on the water and theory training).

If you are new to fast handicap racing there is a club Laser with a full rig available to hire. Alternatively you could crew for one of the two person boats.
