Merrydown Regatta 2026
What a wonderful Merrydown Regatta event we had on Sunday with a fabulous turnout of sailors and supporters to watch the racing and enjoy the RVYC hospitality afterwards .
Our thanks as always to Merrydown for their continued sponsorship I believe the longest running commercial sponsorship in sailing since the inaugural event in 1958 at Ryde Rowing Club .
A flurry of late entries ensured we had a busy Race Box start for the MOCRA , Squib and Dinghy fleet s . Passing gusts meant the Safety RIBs had work to do for the 2 two class races and the final all class start for the Merrydown Trophy .
Inshore it was a glorious sight both our novice fleet and Scows sailing in front of the Clubhouse using Victoria as their race deck . The novice fleet were super brave with a fair amount of time spent capsizing !
We were blessed with the weather set to allow all races to be competed with sailors and race teams heading in for a well earnt drink and BBQ .
Congratulations to all those who took part in the event ; to all the incredible volunteers who ran the racing on the race box and Victoria ; safety boat crews ; to the novice coach boat ; radio and shoreside support . A shout out as well to June and her House team for running a raffle alongside .

Thanks again to all who supported our annual Club Regatta and see you on the water for the remaining of the sailing season in 2026 .
