SVYC vs RVYC vs RSYC vs BHYC : 21st June 2016

Sailing at Seaview holds a special place in my yearly calendar. Although the RVYC has probably the best racing area in our area of the Solent it is always a great pleasure to go East of Ryde sands to explore the waters there.
Racing the Mermaids at Seaview Yacht Club is a great challenge for everyone who sails out of Fishbourne Creek as the long heavy one designs make timing of any manoeuvre critical for success. This year, on a perfect sunny, light wind evening, the RVYC team of 9 were in excellent form, winning all 3 of their flight races and winning the overall, much to the mock chagrin of SVYC , BHYC, & RSYC.
John Turner the Mermaid midweek captain, remarked how much more eventful this years challenge had been as general match racing chicanery appeared all over the course. Michael Smith the, SVYC Commodore, thanked all for participating and toasted the race officer and his team and finally thanked the galley for preparing an excellent supper.
