F2-F3 southerly (light at windward mark).9 squibs 3 fast handicap 3 slow handicap.Well done to Martin Harrison with 2 firsts in the Squib fleet. Both starts were competitive with the fleet splitting both right and left in the strong tides. The windward mark saw Lee Deck, Osprey and Rhapsody vying for pole position and though it was close at times, Lee Deck secured easy wins and Rhapsody prevailed over Osprey. The windward, wing, leeward, all to port-course, made for close quarter racing for the middle of the fleet with notably, and newcomers, Satu (Jim Holder and George) and Ruby( Pete Hayward and James) having some excellent legs and keeping up with the established Squib racers. The second race had an equally competitive start and with an extended wing mark out to the ferry channel and a shortened leeward Mark which forced the gybe, adding further opportunities for overtaking. The fast handicap followed the Squib round the same course and the slow handicap had a triangle course in the first race and a sausage in the second. A special shout out goes to Katy Andrew's who took to her new Fever and was racing fast and high- there's one to look for in the future.
