175th Celebrations : 29th - 31st May 2021

It's just over a week until our 175th anniversary regatta weekend. We can now let you know what's happening each day.

  • Saturday 29 May

It's all about on-the-water today, with a long-distance race for cruisers and keel boats, plus separate races for fast and slow dinghies. Our ever-growing Scow fleet have their own starts and races in the Creek so there'll be plenty to see from the shore.

If you're shoreside, the bar and Galley will be open throughout the day and, hopefully, with the weather on our side, you'll be able to sit back and relax on the lawn and catch up with friends and family.

Inside the clubhouse and throughout the weekend, will be a small display charting some of our 60 years at Fishbourne. See if you can spot some familiar faces! This display was put together for the visit of HRH Princess Anne last month and also on display will be the commemorative plaque she unveiled, together with the visitors book. This is a very special book as it was signed by HM the Queen and HRH Prince Philip back in 1965 (the last time we received a royal visit), as well as Princess Anne.

  • Sunday 30 May

This is the day of our sail past, scheduled for 3pm. Whether you've got a cruiser, keel boat, dinghy, RIB or even SUP, please join in our celebratory sail past. The salute will be taken by the Commodore from the pontoon, accompanied by many of our previous commodores and their spouses. It's going to be a spectacular event and we probably won't be doing it again for another 25 years!

To take part, please contact Adrian Robson who is coordinating the event.

After the sail past, when everyone is ashore again, there'll be a complementary glass of Prosecco or Pimms to toast our wonderful club.

Dan and the Catertemp team will be serving a hot buffet of slow-cooked meats, including pulled pork, salt beef brisket and spicy chicken, all served in a bread roll, with a selection of salads and side dishes. All this for £8. No need to book we're assured there'll be plenty of food for everyone. (Vegetarian options will be available.)

Also today, our new 175th range of clothing will be on sale we'll have a good stock of sizes of polo shirts, plus caps and beanies. No need to pre-order; you can buy and take it home right away. (Please note : You won't be able to try on for size due to Covid precautions. If you find it is the wrong size when you get home, please return it for exchange on your next visit to the club. Thank you.)

The timetable for Sunday is :

  • 2.30pm Sail past musters at mouth of Creek
  • 3pm Sail past and Commodore's salute
  • 4pm Toast to the club (ashore)
  • 4.30pm Presentation of 2020 trophies, awarded virtually in January and now we're able to do so in person
  • Monday 31 May

More racing for all classes today, including Scows on the Creek again. From 6pm, there'll be regatta prizegiving,

Once again, the bar and Galley will be open for food and drink all day, so what better place to spend a holiday Monday?
