    RVYC Members brave the cold in support of Ryde Inshore Rescue

    Congratulations to club members Barbara Knowles and Esmee Vrba who took part in Ryde Inshore Rescue's New Year's Day swim, along with over 30 other hardy souls (and a dog!). It was cold. It was raining. But great to see so many turn out to support our local independent inshore rescue service. Perhaps an RVYC team will take part next year?

    Race Report : FB4 & CA7 on 26 Nov 2017

    More than 40 sailors took part in last Sunday's Frostbite racing revelling in a good force 4 from the West. First away at 1300 were the six cruisers, Chris Turner, single-handing, was a little early and had to put in an extra couple of tacks but Nitric soon stretched her legs and and led the fleet around what turned out to be quite a lengthy course.     RYA South Zone Squad selection success

    Three young RVYC members are celebrating their selection to the RYA's Optimist South Zone Squad. Cameron Blamey and twins, Finn and Noah Evans, all eleven years old, started sailing at RVYC when they were eight and began competing in the Optimist circuit last year. The zone squads are the entry point to the RYA's UK Junior Squad programme to enable them to succeed at junior and youth levels in world and European championships.

  • Winter talks programme announced

    The days are getting cooler, boats are laying up, and evenings are getting darker, so what better way to brighten them up than by coming to a Wednesday talk and pie night. We have a full programme of 18 talks kicking off on 18 October with a history of the Isle of Wight distillery with a gin and vodka tasting.     Cadet Laying Up Supper : 22nd September 2017

    It was a busy end to the Royal Victoria Yacht Club cadet 2017 sailing season with 45 young people from eight to 18 attending the Cadet Laying Up Supper last Friday. After supper, the cadets were enthralled by a talk by cadet parent, Brian Thompson. Brian is a well-respected British offshore racer who made it into the history books by becoming the first Briton to break the round the world sailing record twice.

    Creek Race 2017

    The highlight of Cadet week 2017 ended with the Creek race at 2pm on Sunday 13th August 2017. Race officers Keith Evans and Rachel Leal set 2 courses - with experienced helms and novice helms all eager to put into practice what they had learnt over he last 5 days ! Over 13 lasers & squibs bobbed around in a no wind situation which lead to a 30 minute postponement for the first start .
