    Barrel Race Report

    BARREL RACE 23 October 2016. 20 boats were tempted to have a go at the Barrel Race, only 12 boats completed it due the challenging conditions. First to start was the Cruiser fleet, a clean start by Selah (a Parker 27 complete with a wind generator, tea pot and a full set of floral cushions), with Kev and Marney Gibson and a secret weapon called Hilary on board - this ensured they gave

    Laying Up Supper

    Rear Commodore House - Summer Report

    As the sun shone and the days became longer, The House Committee ensured that the sailing energy, enthusiasm and fun continued off the water. The social season started with the Fitting Out Supper in March; the Commodore's Cocktail Party in May; Celebrations to mark the Queens 90 th birthday and a Magical Summer Ball in June and finished with the family and club fun of the Merry down Regatta in early September.

    Squib End of Season Regatta 2016

    On Saturday the 15th October eight of the RVYC Squib fleet took to the water to compete in the Squib End of Season Regatta 2016. Three races were to take place with all of them counting towards the final score meaning consistency was needed for success. As the competitors arrived the wind was looking extremely light.     RVYC Takes part in Isle of Wight day

    RVYC Members took part in the first Isle of Wight day relay to take the flag from Yarmouth to Bembridge. The section from Osborne to Fishbourne was completed on Nigel Talbots Trimaran, Nitric. Assisted by crew Harry, Charlie & Tom White, who also took a Laser, Richard Rae and Chris Rickman.     Cadet Laying Up Supper marks the end of a successful summer sailing season

    Cadets at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club were treated to a very special guest at their annual Laying Up Supper on 23rd September 2016 . Malcolm Page, Australian Double Olympic sailor had been invited to attend the supper by Cadet Captain, Charlie White who had previously sailed with Malcolm winning both the Etchells Gertrude Regatta Cup and the Sir Kenneth Preston Trophy.     Merrydown Club Regatta

    The 2016 Royal Victoria Yacht Club Merrydown Regatta took place last weekend (3rd and 4th September). Members and visitors alike enjoyed the club's hospitality and there was much action on the water - not only sailing. Experienced sailors revelled in the fresh breeze with 15 - 20 knots blowing both days. Saturday's breeze was from the South which meant flat water but gusty conditions.
