Scow spring 1 -2019
Martyn Squibb reports on the first Scow race of the year.
Well, what can I say other than the Scowndrels started the season with a bang. Eleven boats took to the water in a light NW breeze. Starting from the club line to the first mark laid inside and to the east of Fairways/ round Fairways to port and round the red post to port and back through the line - three laps in all.
Helen Gatehouse, one of our new recruits, had a flying start and never looked back taking line honours A first time out for Dare Barry in a Scow came second and David Matthias third. Alan Coleville realised that he had taken to the water without his life jacket and had to retire.
