Autumn / Winter Racing 2017

Unfortunately , due to a Met Office weather forecast of in excess of 30 knots of breeze and a yellow wind warning, the sailing committee has abandoned the rerun of the Merrydown Regatta scheduled for 21 October . This race will not be sailed at a later date . The Merrydown 2018 will take place on Sept 8 & 9th .

On Sunday 22 October , the annual Island Ales Barrel Race takes place. In a slightly different format, all non-cruiser classes will start at noon with an average lap race for one hour. This format will give fairer racing for a wide range of handicap boats racing together as all sail for the same time and experience the same wind and tide conditions. There's a cask of Island Ale's Yachtsman ale for the over 18s winner (and a non-alcoholic prize for under-18 winners).

From next Sunday until the Sunday before Christmas, RVYC's frostbite series kicks off. This popular open series attracts entries from other island clubs and dinghy sailors can keep their boats at Fishbourne for the series at no cost.
