Race Report WightLink 4 and Cruiser Race 6 16/7/17

Published 09:31 on 19 Jul 2017

A steady Force 4 with a turning tide gave perfect conditions for the 1600 start Sunday, even the sun was out. With a fishing boat anchored on the start line the cruisers had a match race between Nigel Talbot and Tony Pope. It was a competitive start with both boats fighting for the line but Nigel and crew in Nitric pulled away crossing the finish in first place.

Eight Squibs were up next all of which were on the line. Buccaneer were pushed off the line and had to re-start but soon caught up to a top 3 position. The square course set seemed difficult to navigate for Chris Gear and Phil Russell who lost the top 2 positions by getting lost on the course. Sam Prime and Emma Baker in Buccaneer coming first and Charlie and Scot Holdstock in Jess took second place.

Fast Handicap comprising of 2 lasers, an RS 400 and a National 12 completed the course without any difficulty with the RS 400 pushing ahead to be the first boat to cross the line. Both lasers fought all the way round even to the finish line.
