Naming Ceremony for the 'Victoria of Wight ' : 20 September 2018

Published 07:55 on 21 Sep 2018

We were honoured to be asked by Wightlink to host their guests for the naming of their new ship Victoria of Wight today. She was named by HRH The Countess of Wessex. We hosted 250 guests from the island and the mainland. Am delighted that this was our opportunity to shine - and boy, did we!
Some of our cadets played their part too, from serving visitors with tea and coffee, to handing out programmes to the VIPs as they went on board for the ceremony, to helping serve fantastic canapes produced by award-winning island chef, Robert Thompson and his team. They were such a credit to the club - you should all be very proud. We are all very proud of you. And some of them met the Countess too!
A big thank you to all our members who gave up their time today and in the run-up the event. What a team!
