Frostbite Race Report : 11th November 2018
Published 14:38 on 13 Nov 2018
After a delayed start to the 2019 due to adverse weather, the RVYC's frostbite races got off to a flying start . Series race officer, Martin Harrison got two races in last Sunday in spite of a couple of rain squalls bringing with them over 20 knots of wind for a time.
In both races, Steve Warren Smith and Jane Barrett Bellingham were first in the Squibs ahead of David Longford and his crew in Kestrel. In fast handicap, Simon Giles was first in race 1 ahead of Charlie White and Harry White, while in race 2 Harry and Simon swapped places for first and third. Sam Prime and Emma Baker took to the water in their newly-acquired Merlin Rocket but retired from the first race.
It was good to see Cameron Blamey and Scarlett Price back on their home waters in their Optimists but Sam Osborne held off their challenge to win both races on the water.
The cruisers continued their autumn series, with Mark Weeks in Mymo taking first place ahead of Chris Turner in Elsa and Richard Rae in Blue Chaser.
Poor tides mean there is no racing this Sunday but the series continues on Sunday 25 November with an 11am start.
