Revised date for Annual Creek Race : 22nd August at 1130

Published 16:08 on 16 Aug 2021

The weather gods succeeded yesterday in needing a raft of flags flying in the gusty breeze to announce a sensible decision by the Race Officer to postpone the popular Annual Creek Race . It was however lovely to see so many members at the Club !

Hilary Martin and her team have kindly agreed to a revised date of August 22nd at 1130 (Portsmouth HW 1210 BST 4.61m).

As before, we are hoping for separate starts for Squibs; Fast Handicap; Slow Handicap; Scows as well as a special race for Novice Dinghy Helms. NB Squibs and Scows need 5 entries for their own starts.

More information about the race will be sent out with the weekly Club newsletter.

Please register with your name, boat type and sail number as soon as possible but at the latest before noon on the day at email rcs@rvyc.org.uk or preferably through Whats App group RVYC Racing 2021 (email mobile number to me to join up and get up-to-date information for Club races).

Many thanks again to the race team as well as all the RIB drivers / crew and shoreside support who turned out to support our racers last Sunday. Please sign up on the Duty Roster for the revised date if you can - we need all the Club RIBs on the water.

Great for spectators too - either from the Club lawn or follow the racers up the Creek with your kayak, canoe or paddleboard or rowing boat!

The galley and bar will be open for prizegiving afterwards with pulled pork / vegetarian bap options from £4.50 .

See you there !
