Laser Training - Winter 2018
Training for the 2019 NatWest Island Games in Gibraltar
Record-breaking numbers of Laser sailors from across the island have been working hard on the water to hone their racing skills through the winter months. Laser training, open to all island sailing club members, has been held at our club for many years, allowing young sailors to compete against each other and make friends with fellow islanders whilst the racing season takes a break.
All the sailors have their eyes on a place on the Isle of Wight sailing team for the NatWest International Island Games taking place in Gibraltar in 2019. With the team due to be selected in June 2018, focus is high to get out on the water and train hard, but also to keep fit with fitness training when the tide is unfavourable. The island's sailing team manager, Jon Evans, is hopeful of a strong team for next year's games and for the island to demonstrate its true sailing pedigree!
The winter training will culminate with the first selection event on Saturday 24 March 2018, also at RVYC
