Squibs

The National Squib 19 ft keelboats dayboat have distinctive Mace (Tan/Brown) sails. It was designed in 1967 by Oliver Lee, with the first fleet at Royal Corinthian Yacht Club at Burnham. As one of the most popular one design keelboats across the country it enjoys one of the biggest fleets in UK & Ireland.

The busy RVYC Squib fleet have just under 50 club races a year in an active group of around 20 boats. The 2 race days are particularly popular with numbers at the startline seeing between 6 and 14. In addition to the club racing there are 7 Solent regattas. So, even though a few of our top racers campaign on the mainland at the Natioanl events, there's plenty of racing to keep all the Squib owners busy from Spring to December.

The wooded foreshore and Wootton Creek give a wonderful backdrop for our racing and the Cowes Week & Round the Island Race provide us with the continual drama of the big events.

The RVYC Squib Fleet has some 20 yr old young guns, a couple in the top 10 of the National Championships and a solid group of corinthian & friendly racers of all ages.

If this sounds like you, please join us. We keep incontact over whatsapp & facebook so you are never far from knowing what's going on.

More Squib information can be found at the National Squib Owners Association website (http://www.squibs.co.uk/)
